Transportation Construction Stalled During Federal Government Shutdown
More than 18,400 workers from the U.S. Department of Transportation have been furloughed because of the budget battles on Capitol Hill. The shutdown has deeply impacted transportation construction projects around the country. At a press conference this week, Pete Ruane, president of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, said the shutdown will largely hit the streamlining process outlined in Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), the latest transportation funding bill.
