7,000 New Construction Jobs Added Last Month

If you’ve been super busy placing workers in construction jobs, here is validation that business is indeed picking up. The May unemployment figures for the industry have just been released. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports today that construction’s unemployment rate fell to 10.8 percent. That’s nearly the lowest level since October, 2008.  According to Ken Simonson, Associated General Contractors of America chief economist, both residential and nonresidential construction have been adding workers at roughly double the rate of the overall economy in the past year.
