Future Workplace Design Shouldn’t Favor One Generation Over Another
With four generations functioning in the workplace, layout and space that’s conducive to everyone’s liking can be a challenge. John Caulfield, editor at Building Design and Construction, explains the results of new research from the CBRE Group. “Millennials are reacting to environments that, by and large, give them limited space to collaborate and socialize, but practically no spaces (or conditions) in which they can focus,” writes Caulfield. The survey also finds that millennials have a strong desire for flexibility and choice in the workplace. The bottom line, Caulfield notes, is that construction professionals and businesses shouldn’t design their floor plans around millennials.
