How Did the Construction Sector Fare in October’s Jobs Report?

The federal government shutdown and the debt ceiling debacle on Capitol Hill last month are to blame for the shaky findings in the government’s October jobs report. While the monthly assessment is delayed several days due to the shutdown, ADP’s National Employment Report concludes that private sector employment increased by 130,000 jobs from September to October, 2013. Construction payrolls added 14,000 jobs, while manufacturing payrolls increased by 5,000, according to the ADP report.
