Obama Pushes for Improved Infrastructure and Better Quality Jobs

New York’s Tappan Zee Bridge served as the as the backdrop for President Obama this week, as he renewed calls for improved infrastructure across the country. Obama says quality infrastructure will bring quality jobs to the construction sector. The 60-year-old Tappan Zee Bridge is one of the largest rebuilding projects in the U.S., with a $4 billion price tag. According to Obama, streamlining permitting and improved transparency will help cut red tape and create jobs. The struggling Highway Trust Fund was also mentioned by Obama, who is facing an oppositional Congress as federal funds continue to dwindle without a replenishment plan.
