Sustainability for 21st Century Cities

Some savvy government agencies are collaborating with construction companies and others from the private sector to take a long view at how cities are changing and being redeveloped. This is an interesting read on Govtech.com, which highlights green construction and fresh approaches to infrastructure. Writer Colin Wood shares examples of sustainable cities such as Pittsburgh, Dubuque, and, even a story from Vietnam.  “Sustainability is also about finding ways to be resilient and live alongside the environment,” notes Wood. In addition to Hurricanes Sandy and Katrina, the deadly Seattle-area mudslide is of course, the latest reminder of the need for sustainable construction.
