AGC Maps Out Plans for 21st Century Skilled Workforce

It’s an ambitious plan that the Associated General Contractors trade group says will bring life to the industry and a new generation of skilled workers. In Denver, Ken Simonson, AGC’s chief economist, unveiled the plan, Preparing the Next Generation of Skilled Construction Workers: A Workforce Development Plan for the 21st Century. Denver Business Journal reporter Cathy Proctor explains the plan outlines what federal, state, and local officials can do to create construction training programs and fill the pipeline for jobs. According to Simonson, 79 percent of the nation’s construction companies say they expect construction worker shortages will continue or get worse in 2014. Read Proctor’s article to see the nuts and bolts of the plan.
