There are five major convention center and hotel properties in the U.S that should be up and running by 2017. If the past predicts the future, the projects are likely to boost demand in their respective markets. That’s according to Patrick Mayock, editor-in-chief of HotelNewsNow.com. “Such activity mirrors an increase in development more broadly. The total number of hotel rooms under construction is up 42.6 percent as of April 30, according to data from STR, parent company of Hotel News Now,” writes Mayock. The first of the five hotel and convention center projects expected to be completed is the 1,012-room JW Marriott Austin.
