Loews May Be Nailing the Future of Renovations with Technology and Comic Books

Envisioning the completion of a construction or renovation project can be challenging, but science and technology could be changing things. 3D content and augmented reality for home renovations is being tested by Lowe’s. Part of the plan has the retailer working with a team of science fiction writers who are developing Lowe’s Innovation Labs. Executive Director Kyle Nel is leading three of the labs. “You take all of your market research, all of your trend data and hire professional science-fiction writers. And they write real stories with conflict and resolution and characters. We turned it into a comic book and created possible stories or visions of the future.”  Nel points out that because it was a sci-fi story, it opened up people’s imaginations to understand what was possible. What do executives at construction companies make of all this?
