Pennsylvania May Implement Right-to-Work Law

Lawmakers in Pennsylvania are mulling a bill that would bring right-to-work laws to the Commonwealth. If passed by the legislature and signed by the governor, the measure would give individual employees in a unionized workplace the right not to join or financially support the union. “Twenty four states, plus Guam, have passed right-to-work laws,” according to a blog post written by attorney Eric Meyer. “Absent a right-to-work law, all employees in a collective bargaining unit must join the union and pay union dues.” Meyer breaks down the Freedom of Employment Act, which impacts right-to-work laws.
