Natural Disasters in 2012 Prove Costly as Communities Rebuild

Hurricane Sandy, record droughts, wildfires, and tornadoes across the U.S. in 2012 have resulted in new construction-related jobs. Towns and regions have been implementing preventative measures such as levees and dunes while rebuilding entire areas. Federal officials say that weather and climate disasters made 2012 the second costliest year for natural disasters since 1980.
